Workshop Safety Guidelines

  1. Wear Appropriate Safety Gear:
    1. Always wear the appropriate safety gear for the task at hand. This may include safety glasses, ear protection, gloves, and closed-toe shoes.
  2. Tool Inspection:
    1. Before using any tools or equipment, inspect them for damage or wear. Report any issues immediately to the workshop supervisor.
  3. Training and Authorization:
    1. Only use tools and equipment that you have been trained to operate. Seek authorization from the workshop supervisor for new or unfamiliar machinery.
  4. Keep Workspaces Clean and Organized:
    1. Maintain a clean and organized workspace to prevent tripping hazards. Clean up spills promptly, and return tools to their designated places after use.
  5. Respect Personal Boundaries:
    1. Be mindful of others working in the workshop. Respect their space and be aware of potential hazards that may affect them.
  6. Emergency Procedures:
    1. Familiarize yourself with emergency procedures, including the locations of fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and emergency exits.
  7. Proper Ventilation:
    1. Ensure proper ventilation when working with materials that produce fumes or dust. Use dust collection systems and wear respiratory protection when necessary.
  8. No Horseplay:
    1. Avoid engaging in horseplay or any behavior that could distract or endanger others. Focus on the task at hand to ensure a safe working environment.
  9. Safe Tool Handling:
    1. Handle tools with care, keeping hands away from moving parts. Use push sticks or other safety devices when required.
  10. Report Accidents and Near-Misses:
    1. Report any accidents, injuries, or near-misses to the workshop supervisor immediately. Prompt reporting helps prevent future incidents.
